What issues do you care about in the 2025 municipal election, and why?
Our top priorities for the 2025 municipal election focus on building a safer, cleaner, affordable, and vibrant Edmonton that works for everyone—from drivers and transit users to businesses and families.
First, we believe construction projects should be built right the first time. With thoughtful design, strong coordination, and proper maintenance—like ensuring snow is cleared from bike lanes—we can avoid costly retrofits, prevent delays, and save taxpayer money. When we invest based on how people actually move through the city, we reduce waste, avoid unnecessary tax increases, and give households more freedom by providing cost-effective transportation options. Aligning city budgets and street space with real mobility patterns also improves tax efficiency and supports true modal freedom—helping ensure that Edmontonians can choose how they move without penalty.
Clean air and healthy communities go hand in hand. Every trip made by walking or cycling instead of driving reduces pollution, improves air quality, and helps lower rates of asthma, heart disease, and stress. At the same time, active transportation supports the development of dense, vibrant neighbourhoods. When people can live closer to work, school, shops, and essential services, it reduces car dependence and strengthens community connections—making Edmonton more livable and sustainable.
Safety is essential. Protected bike lanes calm traffic and dramatically reduce the number and severity of crashes for all modes. Streets designed with safety in mind benefit everyone—whether you're driving, walking, cycling, or rolling.
Finally, business vitality thrives on active streets. Safe, accessible sidewalks and bike lanes attract more people to local shops and services. Walkable and bikeable corridors support stronger small businesses, drive foot traffic, and help create resilient, people-friendly commercial areas.
These priorities don’t exclusively benefit cyclists—they build a city that’s equitable, efficient, and energized. By focusing on smart infrastructure, clean air, safety, affordability, business support, and compact community design, we’re working toward an Edmonton where mobility freedom is not just possible but available to everyone.
